We are located just outside of Cedar Rapids. It is a short 10-minute drive to the Westdale Mall area on the Southwest Side. We have a great community located in the country where it is nice and peaceful, not too far from town to enjoy the best of both worlds. It is peaceful but not too far from the action of Cedar Rapids.
Atkins is a great community in Eastern Iowa. Located 10 minutes west of Cedar Rapids and has a population of 2000 plus and growing. The school in the area is Benton Community School District. There is a lot of busses as the buildings are spread out of a large geographical area. The elementary school is located in Atkins and has kids from pre-K through 3rd grade. After that they go to Norway, IA for 4th through 6th grades. Finally, witch is a little bit more of a car ride, the bigger kids go to Van Horne for 7th through 12th grades.
In the winter it is convenient because Highway 30 is always one of the first roads taken care of being snowplowed. So as long as you can make it on to Highway 30 you are good to go until you get into Cedar Rapids where you will notice that nothing has been plowed yet. lol.
The electric provider is Alliant Energy. The gas provider is Mid American Energy. The water is provided by Poweshiek Rural Water. There dumpsters that are picked up weekly for trash.
